Young Gregor Ramsay is not your average school boy. At the age 15 he is the UK's youngest international single seater driver making his car racing debut for the BVM Team at Monza Grand Prix Circuit on 15th / 16th October. A remarkable achievement for someone so young, Gregor is fast becoming a Scottish motorsport rising star recently being scouted to test at the Ferrari Driver Academy he has his sights firmly set on becoming a future Formula One World Champion!
Living the dream of being a professional racing driver like many young kids racing karts up and down the UK and across Europe is now becoming a reality! Gregor only began karting aged 10 just for fun and discovered his father's passion for motor racing was in his blood. During 2007, Gregor’s first full year in karting aged just 10 he soon emerged as a race winner in the competitive Comer Cadet Class for 8 to 13 year olds whilst racing against the very best in Britain at the STARS OF TOMORROW British Cadet Kart Championship supported by the BRDC (British Racing Drivers Club) from Silverstone and the MSA British Super One Championship.
Gregor is supported by his school, Williamwood High School in Clarkston, who have registered him as one of their talented pupils and have agreed authorised absence to enable him develop his driving talent. Racing in the KF3 Junior Karting class in the UK and Europe for the ZIP Young Guns and TonyKart Junior Team, Gregor has proved his racecraft and ultimate speed on the track. Coming from Scotland he has a particular flair for driving in wet weather conditions! Karting is all about developing racecraft and the acquired ability to push the pedals and turn the steering wheel better than your rivals, it is a fierce and competitive environment for any young up and coming racing driver.
With an increasingly demanding schedule 15 year old Gregor has shown maturity beyond his years in the transition from karts to cars. Increased power, grip and downforce as well as learning how to change gears has all been taken in his stride. Now the focus is on developing his natural driving ability competing on Formula One international motor racing circuits in the F3 Abarth Championship. Continuing support from Clyde Blowers entrepreneur Jim McColl with a professional race programme to take him to the top along with the resources and support of the Ferrari Driving Academy Gregor is firmly grounded in his opportunity to develop his talent whilst remaining level headed. This personable young man is sure to be a star of the future!
